Quang Nam prepares for declaration of the National Tourism Year 2006

With the theme “Cultural Heritages, Traditional Festival, Traditional Vocational Villages and Eco-Tourism”, Quang Nam Tourism Year will take place on Tet Nguyen Tieu and last the whole year 2006.

The Declaration Ceremony will be the first event of the Quang Nam Tourism Year 2006. It is imposingly organized in three places at the same time: Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary and the Open Economic Zone of Chu Lai. The programme “Travel in Spring” with many traditional festivals and folk art performances will be organized.

In the next programme, “River and traditional Vocational Villages”, tourists can cruise on the romantic river, Thu Bon, and stop over to explore and integrate in villages festivities at Kim Bong Carpentry Village, Thanh Ha Pottery Village, Tra Que Vegetable Village, Phuoc Kieu Copper Village, Ma Chau Silk Village, and Ban Thach Sedge Mat Village etc.

On hot summer days, the programme “Hoian summer feeling” will take tourists to cool air of Cua Dai Beach and Cu Lao Cham Island and Hoi An Ancient Town through many various activities such as Coastal festival, traditional yachting performance, fashion shows “Beach and Summer”, “Hoi An’s Traditional Costumes”, Food festival and sand model creation.

The special programme "Explore Culture of Ethnic Minorities and Ho Chi Minh Historical Road" will take tourists to the western part of Quang Nam to discover the culture of ethnic minorities by seeing the festivals of the Co Tu, Gie Trieng, M’Nong and Xo Dang people etc. Or tourists can participate in the tour “Follow Father’s Steps” to circuit throughout forests and rivers, stay in “Letter A” trenchs, cook with “Hoang Cam” kitchen to recall the memoir of Truong Son trail and live as the elder generation in the past arduous but heroic days of the war.

The programme “Chu Lai - Open Economic Zone Itinerary” with be organized in Chu Lai Economic Zone with many events such as a stage performance "Chu Lai - the Open Economic Zone", Seminar "Chu Lai - Businessmen Rendezvous", coastal culture festivals and other culture and sport events. At the same time, the programme “ Phu Ninh - Dating Place” will be scheduled at Phu Ninh Lake (Phu Ninh District) with many new tourist, cultural and sports activities, which will make a strong impression on tourists about the Eco-Tourism Zone.

The national tourism year 2006 "Quang Nam - Two world heritages at one destination" will emotionally and temporarily say goodbye to tourists with such celebrations as “Happy Christmas”, “Happy New Year-2007” and an Anniversary celebration for the 10-year reestablishment of Quang Nam Province.
